On the Hardware-Limited Sensing Parameter Extraction for Integrated Sensing and Communication System Towards 6G.

Integrated Sensing and Communication (ISAC) is an emerging technology that will empower the sixth generation (6G) network with novel sensing capabilities. The ISAC technique can bring numerous benefits to future mobile networks such as cost reduction and spectrum efficiency improvement. In this paper, we analyze the impact on sensing parameter extraction in ISAC systems caused by hardware impairments including phase noise distortion and limited dynamic range of analog-to-digital converter (ADC). A novel received signal power (RSP) based adaptive sensing algorithm is proposed to improve the sensing accuracy given limited ADC dynamic range. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can reduce the false detection rate to 11 % when the target distance is 500m.
