Cooling of a Coil Integrated in a Micro-Converter by Air Jet

摘要
The object of this paper is the study of the influence on the one hand of the non-isothermal vertical laminar flow of the ambient air on the thermal behavior of a circular planar inductor with 3 turns and on the other hand on its cooling. The mathematical model is composed of the equations of continuity of air flow, and conservation of energy or even heat. The resolution of these equations was carried out by the finite element method using Comsol Multiphysics software. The field of study is a cubic cavity in which the coil is introduced. The vertical air field is assumed to be incompressible. The coil is considered as an obstacle for the axial flow. The results obtained on the thermal behavior of the coil demonstrated that the rate of cooling by ventilation increases with the increase in the intensity of electric current without the need for cooling of the discharged air.
