Design and Implementation of a Highly Reliable Dynamic Configuration Scheme

Orbiting satellite are limited by many ways in space. First of all, in the complex space environment, Single Event Upset of the orbiting satellite is prone to occur, which affect satellite's work. And, its hardware resource constraints can't meet the requirements of environmental changes and multi-dimensional parameters. Then, the orbiting satellite can't restore its working state automatically, when the program has a defect or an irreversible error occurs. In order to solve these problems, this paper proposes a highly reliable on-orbit dynamic configuration scheme. The hardware platform uses ACTEL's AX2000 FPGA + 4 pieces SPI FLASH scheme. Among scheme, three pieces are used for dynamic maintenance and one piece for reconfiguration. Dynamic maintenance adopts a two-out-of-three approach to refresh and correct the configuration program. Reconfiguration receives telecontrol commands and configuration data through the external interface. During the data transmission process, the interface information interaction is applied to judge the accuracy of the data. In order to improve reliability, the three-time retransmission protocol is used during transmission. After the transmission is completed, several mehods are used to verify the entire packet of data. Through practical testing, the scheme can realize dynamic configuration and meet the requirements of high reliability aerospace applications.
