Modulated Model Predictive Current Control (M2PCC) Applied to Induction Machine Drive Systems Operating Under Single-Phase Open-Circuit Fault

This paper discusses the use of the Modulated Model Predictive Current Control (M2PCC) method in two fault-tolerant induction machine drive systems operating under a single-phase open circuit fault. By means of M2PCC simulation, it is shown that employed method is applicable for postfault operation, providing fault-tolerant behavior. Furthermore, a comparison between FOC and M2PCC is conducted for the discussed drive systems, demonstrating that M2PCC provides better transient response, with smoother and faster migration from healthy to postfault operation.
