Lyapunov-Function Based Control Approach for Single-Phase Split Source Inverter

The single-phase split source inverter (SSI), operating as an inverter while boosting the input dc voltage, is a single-stage topology. This paper introduces a novel control strategy utilizing a Lyapunov-function controller for a SSI. The proposed Lyapunov function scheme employs a simplified mathematical model of the single-phase SSI, ensuring the stability of the topology and facilitating the generation of the required modulation indexes for the switches. The DC side inductor current reference is generated using a proportional-integral (PI) controller, while a proportional resonant (PR) controller is applied to generate the AC side inductor current reference. By adopting this method, control of both the DC and AC sides of the split source inverter is simplified while ensuring stability across all operating points. Simulation results conducted in MATLAB/Simulink validate the effectiveness of the proposed method in generating a harmonic-free output voltage under both linear and nonlinear loads, with the successful execution of the DC side control.
