Abstract
Magnetic levitation is becoming popular in magnetic bearing, magnetic transportation etc. The applications are increasing day by day over the conventional approaches used to increase the speed and efficiency in magnetic levitation vehicles. Surely the future generation will be a witness of this immense change in transportation due to the use of electromagnetic levitation. This paper highlights the design, analytical modelling and studies on two levitation prototypes for two flat steel plates of different masses but same geometry. The full levitation systems have been designed starting from the scratch. The paper also presents the mathematical force derivation in the $z$ direction to achieve a better modelling, system performance and stability. The effects of mass change in the levitating object has been broadly studied in this paper. Though the geometry has been kept unchanged but a change in mass can effect in modelling, stability analysis and controller design. This study will give a clearer idea on the development of levitation prototypes.
