Impact of Different types of Cyber-Physical Attack and its Prevention on Load Frequency Control

Regular as well as good quality of electricity is demanded by the users. To make it possible, load frequency control (LFC) should have to be safe and reliable for maintaining the scheduled frequency after primary control against any disturbances caused in interconnected power system. The Power Systems with LFC loops are interconnected through a communication channel; this led to chances of cyberattack by external agencies. Mostly the cyber-attacks are performed by false data injection, time delay attack, various template attacks and load attack which are categorized according to their function. Motivated by this scenario, this paper studies various cyber-attack methods during the LFC operation in the interconnected power system. In this paper simulations are performed on LFC in two area interconnected power system to understand the various cyber-attack techniques leading to frequency deviation. To prevent the false data injection attack (FDIA) during LFC operation, ANFIS control approach is demonstrated and results are verified through simulation.
