What motivates the use of shared mobility systems and their integration with public transit? Evidence from a choice experiment study

•A choice experiment survey is designed to investigate traveler’s mode choice considering the impact of shared mobility.•An ICLV-CNL model is built to estimate mode choice between shared mobility, conventional modes, and multimodal system.•Three latent variables are structured with users’ attitudinal variables to explore the user’s preference and heterogeneity.•Policy implications are proposed to avoid system competition and encourage integration.
