Electric field distribution of 110 kV insulator under uneven pollution.

This paper studies the potential and electric field distribution of 110 kV XWP-160 insulators under clean and polluted conditions. COMSOL simulation of insulator strings is carried out under clean, uniform, and uneven pollution conditions, and different pollution levels are set. The electric field distribution is the shape of saddle’ through simulation results, and the electric field in the middle is low and stable. The wet pollution that runs through the insulator string tends to make the potential distribution near the high-voltage electrode gentle. With the increasing unevenness of the upper and lower surfaces of the porcelain insulator string, the flashover voltage increases, because it is difficult to form discharge at each distorted electric field position. The results will further deepen our understanding of the performance of porcelain and glass insulators in various uneven pollution.
