Abstract
•Interleaving non-woven microfiber veil/ply is the most promising and cost-effective strategy to enhance the Interlaminar Fracture Toughness.•Interleaved composites have more stable crack propagation.•Areal density of non-woven Carbon and Glass ply made a significant role in achieving good shear resistance in composites.•Interleaving of veils helped to decrease the kinetic energy through deviate the crack path and fiber bridging.
