Abstract
•Platelet-driven clot contraction is important to form a stable plug after blood vessel injury.•Myosin IIA drives clot contraction but is not known for other roles in platelets.•A small reduction of myosin IIA activity has severe consequences for clot contraction.•Complete loss of myosin IIA activity also makes platelets less responsive to collagen.
