Abstract
•Homogeneous bio-based aerogels were prepared using feather keratin and silk fibroin.•The aerogel had good compressive strength and shape stability.•The aerogel can be used as an adsorbent for cationic dye such as Methylene Blue.•The adsorption properties and adsorption mechanism of the aerogel were experimentally investigated.•Increasing the added value of waste feathers for wastewater treatment.
