Update on Cold-Induced Injuries

Cold -induced injuries are a major challenge for burn surgeons, leading to significant sequelae for the patients including amputations, long-term disability, and death. Despite the beneficial impact of thrombolytics on outcomes, frostbites remain a significant burden on hospital resources. A paucity of evidence exists preventing the burn surgery community to come to definitive conclusions on key questions and an optimal protocol to manage cold -induced injuries. Future research is needed to understand.
