Composite Right/Left Handed Leaky Wave Antenna Using Complementary Omega Shape on Half Mode Substrate Integrated Waveguide

In this paper, a half-mode substrate integrated waveguide (HMSIW) by using complementary omega slots to provide HMSIW Composite right/left handed (CRLH) Leaky wave antenna (LWA) is presented. Omega shaped slots provide the series capacitance required for the CRLH transmission line, whereas the vias on one side of the proposed structure provides the shunt inductance. The unit cell configuration has been analyzed and an array of eight-unit cells is used for presenting HMSIW CRLH LWA exhibiting continuous beam scanning from the angle -30 to 20 between the frequency range of 14.5 - 19 GHz.
