To promote the development of millimeter wave (mmWave) wireless local access network (WLAN) and the compatibility with low frequency WLAN systems, the comparison of the measurement-based large-scale channel characteristics in indoor environments at 5.4 GHz and 42.66 GHz are presented. The closed-in (CI) path loss model is employed to analyze the effects of frequency and antenna polarization. Based on extensive channel measurements, the impact of propagation environment and antenna performance on the channel cross-polarization discrimination (XPD) ratio is analyzed.
