The grid assembly within ion thruster exhibit characteristics of high voltage differentials and small spacing, making them susceptible to beam sparkle phenomenon, which has a certain impact on the overall stability and reliability of the ion electric propulsion system. Therefore, it is imperative to fully consider the beam sparkle factor during the design process. This article begins by conducting the topology selection and key parameters design of the high-voltage power supply of the ion electric propulsion system, and then establishes the electrical equivalent circuit model of the three-grid structure. Using this model, the flow paths of the beam sparkle current are analyzed when different grounding methods and grounding positions are employed. The advantages and disadvantages of each grounding strategy are discussed accordingly. Furthermore, this article delves into an analysis of the mechanism by which common-mode noise is generated due to beam sparkle currents. It also presents corresponding solution ideas to mitigate this noise. On the basis of theoretical analysis and discussion, we perform simulations and verified the key conclusions.
