Abstract
In this letter, leveraging dynamic fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) as aerial base stations (ABSs), we evaluate the time-varying air-to-ground (A2G) coverage via coverage probability (CP). On this basis, the first- and second-order statistical properties of CP are further derived to quantify the temporally averaged coverage quality and coverage stability, respectively. The results show that the ABS's circling flight makes CP unstable and exhibit a near cosine-shaped periodic variation over time. Furthermore, it reveals that within the coverage quality tolerance, enlarging the circling radius and height of ABSs could enhance the coverage stability while sacrificing the temporally averaged coverage quality.
