摘要
The hybrid wound dressing based on alginate and green synthesis of copper nanoparticles from Chromolaena odorata butanol fraction extract (BE) was documented in our present research. The phytochemical analysis via LC–MS/MS of BE confirmed the presence of glycosidic compounds, especially in the form of phenolics and flavonoids, which was proven efficiently as a reducing agent in the synthesis of copper nanoparticles. UV–vis spectrum and XRD pattern concluded the successful formation of copper nanoparticles (CuBE). The particle size, estimated by TEM, was 50–60 nm. The CuBE were evenly distributed inside the alginate dressing. The Alg-CuBE dressing was stable and capable of killing more than 70% Staphylococcus aureus . Notably, Alg-CuBE 200 ppm exhibited an excellent antibacterial rate (95%) similar to penicillin G 50 ppm (98%). Moreover, the hybrid dressing was considered as safe via hemocompatibility and biocompability assays. All the results provide a great potential of Alg-CuBE dressing for enhancing the antibacterial effectiveness. Graphical abstract
