•A novel Sb doped La2NiO4+δ material was synthesized as membrane support.•The Sb doped sample exhibits good resistance towards CO2/carbonate corrosion.•The introduction of Sb enhances the CO2 permeability.•The La2Ni0.95Sb0.05O4+δ-based membrane achieves a high CO2 permeation flux.
