Effect of rubber powder desulfurization on the compatibility between rubber and bitumen: Combination and insight of experiments and molecular dynamics simulation

This paper primarily examines the thermal storage test, fourier transform infrared spectroscopy test, and scanning electron microscopy test to accurately evaluate the compatibility of desulfurized rubber modified bitumen. The sulfur-containing bonds in desulfurized rubber modified bitumen are oxidized, which enhances the crosslinking between rubber and bitumen. On this basis, a molecular model of desulfurized rubber modified bitumen and rubber bitumen were modelled. Finally, the gray correlation was used to analyze the consistency of molecular dynamics simulation with physical property tests. The results showed that the compatibility was better with a 20% desulfurized rubber powder dosage and a 180(degrees) C preparation temperature.
