A Manual-based Knowledge Externalization Pattern using ArchiMate

According to a survey [1] conducted in 2021 by the Japan Institute for Labour Policy and Training (JILPT), 80 percent of companies place emphasis on OJT (On the Job Training) as a method of teaching business operations within their organization. However, OJT cannot clarify the knowledge of what and how people think when conducting operations. In order to resolve these issues, Tahara proposes the use of KW Lists that clarify thought processes according to the business process and the on-site knowledge required to perform operations. In this paper, we structure KW Lists in terms of thought processes and diagram them using ArchiMate. Through this method, the architecture of the KW (Knowledge &Wisdom) List becomes clear, enabling the visualization of the relationships among elements of the KW list, which had not been possible until now.
