Investigation of a New Variable Flux Dual-Stator Flux Modulated Machine With Multiple Excitations

This paper proposes a new variable flux dual-stator flux modulated machine with multiple excitations (VF-DSFMMEM), which employs PMs on both the rotor and inner stator to increase torque production, and uses the field windings for flux regulation. The topology and operation principle of VF-DSFMMEM are described. The electromagnetic performances of VF-DSFMMEM are evaluated. The results show that the proposed VF-DSFMMEM accommodates high torque capability and good flux regulation ability.
