A Circularly Polarized Magnetoelectric Dipole Antenna and Its Gain Enhancement

This paper introduces a broadband circularly polarized magnetoelectric dipole (M-E dipole) antenna operating in the millimeter-wave band. The bottom part of antenna consists of three layers of Rogers5880 high-frequency substrate, including a substrate integrated waveguide, a rectangular slot and an electric dipole. On the top of the antenna, there is a polarizer with a relative dielectric constant of 2.9, and a dielectric loss tangent of 0.01. By adjusting its height and thickness, 90° phase difference of the x-component and y-component of the output electromagnetic waves can be achieved, realizing the output of the circularly polarized waves. To further enhance the gain of it, a Fabry-Pérot cavity (FPC) is designed above the CP M-E dipole. The gain of the source (CP M-E dipole) can be improved significantly.
