Visible-Light-Induced Bromination of -Diazo Compounds with Bromoform

An efficient visible-light-driven strategy for bromination of alpha-diazo compounds is achieved for the construction of alpha-bromoesters with bromoform. It is noteworthy that the reaction occurs under sole light irradiation without a photocatalyst or an additive. Several synthetic transformations and gram-scale reactions demonstrate the synthetic potential of this photochemical reaction.
