A Method for Performance Optimization of Coreless Axial Flux Permanent Magnet Machine

摘要
The optimization of coreless axial flux permanent magnet (AFPM) machine to improve the air gap flux density by the 3D finite element analysis (FEA) is necessary, limited by the longer air gap. This paper studies the influence of different pole embraces and Halbach array arrangements on a coreless AFPM machine and proposes a method combining 3D magnetostatic simulations and analytical calculations for the optimization process. The transient FEA results of the back EMF and eddy current loss can verify the rationality of the optimization.
