Abstract
The formation and growth of different types MnS inclusions were in situ observed and confirmed by CLSM and FESEM in high-Al medium-Mn steel. Type II, IIS, and III MnS are mainly determined by the solidification route of steel and the change of degrees of supersaturation of S and Mn elements. The sintering of type III and II is key factor leading to an increase in the size of MnS inclusions.
