Modelling and analysis of quadruple unsymmetrical micro-ring resonator based optical filter

The present work implements modelling of quadruple unsymmetrical micro ring resonators (QUMRR) with single input and triple output waveguide. Delay line signal processing method is used to implement the specified configuration in z-domain. Mason’s gain formula is used to determine the transfer function of the proposed configuration. In order to increase the free spectral range (FSR), Vernier principle method is used. The FSR obtained at various output ports are 271.5 Thz, 218.2 Thz and 165.1 Thz from the frequency response plot as determined in MATLAB software. The directional coupler are designed using OptiFDTD software. The proposed QUMRR is beneficial in communication network as different FSRs are accessible at output port which will can be used for various applications.
