Hydrophobic and UV-proof colorimetric film based on W/O Pickering emulsion for salmon freshness monitoring

•A colorimetric film was developed with both hydrophobicity and UV-proof properties for salmon freshness monitoring.•The colorimetric film was fabricated by coating W/O Pickering emulsion containing microencapsulated red cabbage anthocyanin solution onto polyvinylidenefluoride.•The 3-(Trimethoxysilyl) propyl methacrylate modified TiO2@SiO2 was used as the emulsifier to make stable W/O Pickering emulsion.
