Abstract
We investigate the mode coupling in the few-mode erbium-doped fiber wound around the piezoelectric fiber stretcher by the experiments and theoretical analysis. By adjusting the driving voltage, the signal-to-crosstalk ratio (SXR) of LP 01 , LP 11e and LP 11o modes can be further improved by 0.62dB, 1.03dB and 1.32dB, respectively. The theoretical SXR curves are also obtained from the mode-coupled FM-EDFA model, in agreement with the experimental trend.
