Construction of ternary CN/Ag/P25 photocatalysts for naphthalene photodegradation

Ternary CN/Ag/P25 photocatalysts are successfully constructed are successfully constructed by photodeposition method and their photodegradation performances of naphthalene are evaluated. The results show the sample prepared by depositing 1 % nano-Ag particles onto the photocatalyst exhibits the best activity towards naphthalene photodegradation with satisfactory stability. The structures, morphologies and optical properties of the obtained photocatalysts are characterized by various analytical methods and the possible photocatalytic enhancement mechanism is proposed. center dot O2- and h+ play key roles in the process of naphthalene photodegradation. Nano-Ag particles work as electron-conduction bridges, facilitating the migration of charge carriers and providing electrons for O2 to produce center dot O2- radicals for naphthalene photodegradation. Meanwhile, the recombination of e--h+ is inhibited, resulting in the accumulation of h+. In general, the successful construction of ternary CN/Ag/P25 photocatalysts provides a new strategy to design novel photocatalysts for naphthalene photodegradation.
