Modeling of a Lithium-Ion Battery Used in a Photovoltaic System in Sub-Saharan Africa

In a context of energy transition where the demand for energy is growing year after year, renewable energies (RE) have a place of choice. The intermittent nature of these makes storage a very important link for RE systems in order to guarantee a continuous response to power demand. Although lead technology remains by far the most widely used in stationary applications, lithium technology is gaining more and more ground in view of the many advantages it offers. However, there are still few lithium battery models intended for stationary applications compared to traction battery models. This paper makes a comparative study of three models of lithium batteries that consume little computing power and are precise for an implementation in a BMS. In addition, a study of the performance of the battery operating in a particular environment where the temperature is often high is carried out. This made it possible to see the behavior of a lithium battery in the sub-Saharan climate and to have an idea of the lifespan it could have, which is at best 9 years.
