The association between blood pressure variability and depressive symptoms among middle-aged and older adults: Nationwide population-based cohort study

•It is the first nationwide cohort study to assess the association of BPV with depressive symptoms in non-Western populations.•Participants with the highest tertile in BPV had a higher risk of depressive symptoms, independent of mean blood pressure.•Our findings suggested that there was a nonlinear dose-response relationship between BPV and the risk of depressive symptoms.
