Abstract
With the increasing severity of global climate change, the implementation of green ports and the utilization of renewables have become imperative for sustainable shore development. However, with the increasing penetration of renewables, numerous power electronic converters in conventional shore AC grids (SACGs) results in higher investment and operation costs, while also diminishing the overall system's efficiency and reliability. This paper begins by introducing the shore DC grid (SDCG) considering the growing penetration of renewables and the battery-powered ships. Next, the advantages and the practical issues associated with SDCGs are summarized. Finally, three feasible topological structures of SDCGs are discussed. This research can serve as a reference for the implementation and development of SDCGs.
