Amidoxime-functionalized magnetic graphene oxide-silica particles for adsorption of U(VI) ions from an aqueous medium
Journal of Radioanalytical and Nuclear Chemistry(2023)
Abstract
In this work, magnetic graphene oxide particles (MGO) were prepared and grafted with (3-glycidoxypropyl) triethoxysilane (Si). Then, the epoxy groups of MGO@Si were reacted with diamino maleonitrile (DAMN) via a ring-opening reaction. The nitrile groups of DAMN were reacted with hydroxyl amine to generate amidoxime groups on the materials. The zeta potential values of the MGO@Si-DADAO varied between 37.9 to −15.5 mV in the pH range of 2.0–11.0. The adsorption capacity of the MGO@Si-DADAO particles was found to be 641.4 mg/g. Additionally, after 10 adsorptions–desorption cycles, the adsorption capacity of MGO@Si-DADAO particles was not significantly altered.
