The Use of a Polarization-Agile Applicator in Hyperthermia Treatments of a Spherical Region

A hyperthermia applicator that can independently radiate two orthogonal polarizations is proposed for a Polarization-Agile array configuration to obtain better control of power deposition. Through a numerical model of a layered sphere simulating a human head, the possibility of more efficiently limiting unwanted hot spots is demonstrated.
