A New Approach to the 2-D Power Synthesis of Shaped Beams with Arbitrary Footprints

We propose a new and effective approach to the mask-constrained power synthesis of 2-D shaped patterns. The developed technique jointly exploits a recently-introduced Phase Retrieval algorithm as well as fundamental results available in the literature for the synthesis of shaped patterns through array antennas. By so doing, it is possible generating shaped beams having arbitrary footprints through planar sources with a limited support.
