One of the most destructive natural disasters that can occur is floods. It destroys human life, livestock properties, and agriculture. India experienced the most devastating floods in the last 10 years. The most noted flood occurred in Assam, Uttarakhand, Jammu and Kashmir, Chennai, and Kerala. Despite modern technology and having atmospheric study labs warning, still, the events are happening. This is an experimental model to implement a capacitive transducer as a flood detection device. The paper deals with the development of an Arduino-based low-cost model of flood detection and alarm system. The paper deals with the development of a capacitive transducer and its implementation in an Arduino-based system for flood detection and alarm. The paper contains the response of the capacitive transducer against the water level, and its implementation to measure the height of the water level. The system is tested in the lab and results are presented.
