Abstract
•Density and speed of sound of (iodobenzene+n-alkane) mixtures are measured at t = (288.15 K to 308.15 K) and p = 0.1 MPa.•Excess molar volume (VmE) and isentropic compressibility (κSE) are calculated and correlated. (∂VmE/∂T)p are also calculated.•The VmE results are compared with those (fluorobenzene, chlorobenzene or bromobenzene + n-alkane) mixtures.•The VmE variation with the n-alkane size is determined by the variation of the contribution from structural effects.•The Prigogine-Flory-Patterson model is applied and supports the conclusions from the analysis of experimental data.
