Risk of Thrombosis and Bleeding in Gynecologic Non-Cancer Surgery: Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.

The risk of VTE in gynecologic non-cancer surgery varies between procedures and patients. VTE risks exceed the bleeding risks only in selected patients and procedures. Although most of the evidence is of low certainty, results nevertheless provide a compelling rationale for restricting pharmacologic thromboprophylaxis to a minority of patients undergoing gynecologic non-cancer procedures.
