An Efficient Model Predictive Control Strategy for Five-Phase Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor Based on Discrete Control Set

In the conventional model predictive control (MPC) schemes, the single voltage vector is widely utilized within a switching cycle, resulting in the significant current ripples. In this paper, a discrete control set (DCS) is introduced into the MPC scheme for the five-phase permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) by the virtual-voltage-vector (V 3 ) principle. The proposed modified MPC scheme expands the range of selectable voltage vectors, reducing the current ripple significantly. Furthermore, an optimization voltage vector selection strategy is proposed based on dichotomy, which can improve the computing efficiency effectively. The proposed method has been verified by the simulation and experiment.
