Specific serum biomarkers to assess the bone health in a group of hemophilia A carriers: Data from the CAR.BONE study

•Coagulation Factor VIII (FVIII) is involved in the osteoclastogenesis.•Hemophilia patients with FVIII deficiency have lower bone density, already in childhood.•Inactivation of FVIII gene is cause of bone resorption in mouse.•Some hemophilia carriers showed bone fragility or poor bone regenerative ability.•Our study is the first that assessed the bone health in hemophilia carriers using specific serum biomarkers.
