Abstract
Daily consumption, accompanied by current challenges in the energy sector, creates the need to balance demand and supply as soon as possible. Energy management on the user sites should avoid significant deficiencies from the supply end and improve energy efficiency. The task of a local microgrid is to reduce the overall cost without limiting consumption. We propose a solution that enables the split of the microgrid elements (electrical switches, power sources, and consumer appliances) from the central management system, which is involved in the decision-making of available resource use. Our intelligent energy management system (IEMS) can control and manage appropriate set points for all the sources and storages to maintain economically optimized power transmission to fulfill consumer load demands. We integrate our IEMS into a smart home management system. To achieve this goal, we have developed a communication module between a commercial hybrid inverter and IEMS. This integration enables data collection of every parameter from the hybrid inverter and remote control of power sources. As a result, we present intelligent automation of power source selection and storage management.
