Abstract
The SiCp/AZ91 magnesium matrix laminar material is designed to maximize the contribution of alternating soft and hard layered structures to strength-strain synergies. Its compressive strength reaches-622 MPa, exhibiting a remarkable improvement of 6000 % and 200 % compared to a monolithic SiC layered skeleton (10.2 MPa) and AZ91 alloy (316 MPa), respectively. The high-density SiCp/AZ91 layer enhances the strength of the composites, while the AZ91 alloy layer not only alleviates stress concentration but also inhibits crack initiation and propa-gation, imparting the composites with high toughness.
