Development of semitransparent CdTe polycrystalline thin-film solar cells modified with a CuCl layer for BIPV

Abstract
In the current context of renewable energy development, CdTe polycrystalline thin-film solar cells are expected to have broad prospects in fields such as Building Integrated Photovoltaics. It is crucial to fabricate sub-micronthick, semitransparent CdTe solar cells for photovoltaic glass curtain walls that require a certain degree of transparency. As a result, we have employeded a high-quality deposition technique for sub-micron-thick CdTe polycrystalline films. We have analyzed the influence of post-treatment processes on the film properties and investigated the impact of solution-based CuCl back buffer layer preparation on device performance. By improving the quality of sub-micron-thick CdTe polycrystalline films, and optimizing the concentration and process of Cu doping, we have successfully fabricated semitransparent CdTe solar cells with an average visible light transmittance of 14.21%, eta Front: 6.2%, eta Rear: 4.4%, and bifacial factor:0.7.
