Artificial intelligence in pediatric congenital and acquired heart disease

Artificial intelligence (AI) has emerged as a major frontier in healthcare research. Although AI has been available for some time and found its application in many fields of medicine, its use in pediatric cardiology is comparatively nascent. This chapter explores the current literature and applications of machine learning in various aspects of clinical pediatric cardiology, from improving diagnostics in imaging modalities, prognostication, early identification of clinical decompensation in the cardiac ICUs, to surgical planning and decision making.
