摘要
Cardiovascular disease (CVD) remains a leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide, despite decades of research and advancements in treatment. Precision Nutrition (PrN) is a promising approach to preventing and managing CVD, which seeks to tailor dietary recommendations based on an individual's unique genetic, epigenetic, and microbiome profiles. This multifaceted approach aims to identify the underlying mechanisms driving CVD development and progression and to develop personalized interventions that can improve outcomes. In this chapter, we will provide an overview of the current state of research on the genome, epigenome, and microbiome in preventing and treating CVD. We will discuss the role of genetics and epigenetics in modulating cardiovascular risk, including the influence of genetic polymorphisms on lipid metabolism, inflammation, and oxidative stress. We will also examine the impact of the gut microbiome on CVD risk, including the role of gut dysbiosis in promoting inflammation and atherosclerosis. Furthermore, we will explore the potential of PrN in managing CVD through personalized dietary interventions, including the use of nutrigenomics to tailor dietary recommendations based on genetic and epigenetic profiles. Finally, we will discuss the challenges and limitations of PrN, including the need for large-scale, well-controlled clinical trials to validate the effectiveness of this approach. Overall, this book chapter provides a comprehensive overview of the multifaceted approach of PrN in the prevention and therapy of CVD, highlighting the potential of this approach to improve health outcomes and reduce the burden of CVD worldwide.
