摘要
Aging is a common process that is associated with gradual deterioration of the normal physiological function. It is characterized by decreased phenotypic and genotypic manifestations. Several events at the cellular level contribute to this aging process. This chapter addresses the critical factors involved in stem cell aging and their impact on self-renewing ability of stem cells during aging and key genes involved in stem cell aging. Furthermore, the role of growth factors and their signaling, function, and regulation of different microRNAs in aging and age-related pathologies are also discussed. Studies on cellular aging could potentially delay the age-related morbidities and mortalities and therefore would improve the quality of life.
