摘要
Early diagnosis of neurodegenerative disorders (ND) is crucial for its prognosis and treatment. For the prognosis of ND, the cerebrospinal fluid provides accurate results, but it requires a lumbar puncture which is traumatic and invasive in nature. The other biofluids used are blood, urine, saliva, and tear fluids. The prognosis with the use of salivary biomarker is simple and noninvasive in nature; it is also cheaper, quick and do not require trained personnel. In this chapter, we have discussed various bodily fluids that can be used as potential candidate for the diagnosis of the ND. The chapter also discusses the various potential salivary biomarkers to be significant diagnostic tool in the neurodegenerative disease’s diagnosis. The various available biosensors constructed for the saliva-based detection are also discussed.
