Abstract
A “chameleon catalyst” for hydrogenation reactions: The selectivity of an amine-functionalized ruthenium nanoparticles-based catalyst can be switched in the hydrogenation of bicyclic heteroaromatics by controlling the feedgas composition, unlocking adaptivity in product formation. The selectivity switch is reversible, rapid, and robust, and originates from the formation of ammonium formate species under H2/CO2, and their decomposition under H2, as reported by Alexis Bordet, Walter Leitner et al. in their Research Article (e202311427).
