An Efficient Privacy Preserving Scheme for Internet of Things Environment

Abstract While Internet of Things (IoT) systems, including cloud-enabled IoT systems, are becoming the norm, ensuring the security and privacy of data without impacting performance remains challenging. In this paper, we demonstrate how one can outsource attribute-based encryption (ABE) operations (e.g., encryption and decryption) to proxy servers in order to reduce the computation overhead of encryption and decryption. Our proposed scheme is also designed to incur minimal storage overhead of the ciphertext (CT), by generating constant ciphertext, regardless of the number of access policy attributes required for encryption. We also evaluate the performance of our proposed scheme and demonstrate that our scheme is more efficient than two other schemes.
